Instead of ordering lunch every day, opt to pack your own. Making lunches at home not only saves you money but also gives you control over what ingredients you’re putting into your body. Instead of grabbing fast food when you’re running errands, shop around town and bring along healthy snacks like fruit or veggies these options are much cheaper than fast food and are much healthier!

3) Learn to cook real food at home

Cooking at home is not only cheaper than eating out, it also allows you to control your food intake and makes you aware of how many calories are going into your body. Plus, when you cook at home, you won’t need as many pots and pans because instead of heating up processed foods in microwaves or slow cookers, you can simply eat real food that doesn’t need to be cooked or prepared beforehand.

Farmer’s markets are one of my favorite ways to save money. Locally grown fruits and vegetables, along with grass-fed beef and other animal products, will help you get your family off processed foods and eating foods that can be labeled organic is much less expensive at farmers’ markets than it is at health food stores.

5) Cut calories by eating whole foods instead of processed foods

Processed foods are high in sodium, preservatives, and unhealthy muscles blaze, but low in vitamins and minerals. Whole foods like vegetables and fruit are pack with antioxidants, fiber, and other health-promoting compounds that protect against disease and aging. 6) Don’t buy processed foods that have loads of sugar, salt, oil, or artificial ingredients.

Instead, look to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy whole grains, and lean meats. By switching to cleaner foods, you’re less likely to eat too much overall. And even if you do slip up with your diet every now and then (as we all do), it’s better to be 90 percent healthy than 100 percent unhealthy. There’s no rule that says you can’t occasionally enjoy something like ice cream or cake but try to pick lower-calorie options when those cravings strike!

7) Learn how much things cost ahead of time

Make sure you know how much groceries cost at least one week before you start shopping. It can be hard to avoid temptation if you don’t know how far your money will go! Also, if there’s a special deal that week, set aside some of your budgeted money to take advantage of it. A lot of healthy items are cheaper when they’re discounted! Plus, since you know exactly what you want and where it is (and how much it costs), you can reduce impulse purchases.

8) Replace soda and junk food snacks with healthier alternatives like water, fruits, nuts, and seeds.

Replacing it with water can help you cut back without having to change much else. If you’re hungry between meals, try snacking on fruits and nuts instead of grabbing junk food.
